FINALS aspirations are on the line when Bendigo Lawn Quest takes on premier league rival Strathfieldsaye in Friday night’s Bendigo Tennis Association clash.

Separated by a point on the ladder after 17 rounds, Strathfieldsaye and Quest will be fired up to be at their best on courts one and two at the Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street
The tally from this season’s meetings stands at one-all.
Quest won the latest showdown with Strathfieldsaye by 28 games, but is up against a team which beat South Bendigo last round.
Lawn’s squad includes Isaac Watson, Marcus McDougal, Simon Kelly and Ryan Brook.
In the round 13 clash with Strathfieldsaye, Quest won 12 of 14 sets.
Unbeaten in singles this season, Watson has a sets record of 39-18 in 13 matches.
Strathfieldsaye’s Nick Bath and Tova Penno were in great form last round as they defeated Mick Mulgrew and Peter Somerville respectively.
The play of Michael Smyth and Easton Smyth will be crucial to Strathfieldsaye’s hopes as they aim to bounce back from losses in last week’s singles rubbers.
• The other match on the grasscourts will be Bendigo Lawn Rising against South Bendigo on courts three and four.
Play at Rising’s home hits off at 5.15pm.
The third-placed South Bendigo has won its previous duels with Rising by 23 and 26 games.
South’s squad includes Jordan Hicks, Mick Mulgrew, Peter Somerville, Ryan and Grant Leader.
Rising has not won since its 14-game triumph in the ninth round against Strathfieldsaye.
• The ladder-leading Spring Gully Butterflies faces this season’s nemesis, Epsom on the Spring Gully courts from 6pm.
Epsom has played brilliant tennis to beat the Butterflies by 11 games in round three, and then by 14 in the 13th round.
Highs in Epsom’s latest victory against Gully included wins by Jono Guy against Jamie Brown, Ben Bailey against Craig Nolan, and Heather Robbins against Bronwyn Osborne.
The Butterflies will be determined Epsom does not celebrate a third win against them.
Spring Gully showed its depth in last week’s 28-game win against Rising.
Matt Hartland, Nolan, Robbins and Lachlan Perdon took to the court as the in-form Jamie Brown took a rest.
Brown has played 13 matches this season and racked up a sets record of 45-16.
