Time and distance are no issue for Nathan Duffin and Erek Ladd.
The musical duo formed a band in Bendigo in 2015 before Ladd, an American, was forced to return home to renew his visa.
In the almost two years since, the pair worked tirelessly to email lyrics, record tracks and collaborate on their debut album which will be released on February 7.
Ladd returned to Bendigo in August and has started taking steps to become a permanent resident.
“(The album) has been a long work of progress and we never saw each other through whole process. Only in last few months as we put the finishing touches on it,” Ladd said.
“We found our sound a lot more over that two years of working together. Working from afar helped us critique things better.”
Duffin & Ladd’s new album, titled Home, is acoustic rock-inspired recording with both musicians inspired by bands like Foo Fighters and The Goo Goo Dolls.
The duo simply write music they want to listen to.
“Being a big fan of a lot of 90s bands, and making the music we make, I almost feel like we were almost born in the wrong era,” Duffin said.
“If people enjoy it even a tenth as much as I enjoyed making it, then I think we are onto something really special.”
Duffin & Ladd’s album, Home, is available on iTunes, Google Play, Apple Music and Spotify from February 7. You can find Duffin & Ladd on Facebook.
