DUNOLLY'S immediate future in the Maryborough Castlemiane District Football Netball League has been assured after a club crisis meeting this week.
There had been some doubt over the Eagles' participation in this season's competition due to its poor financial position.
But the club was able to assure league officials present at Wednesday's meeting that it would be able to meet its commitments.
Dunolly Football Netball Club secretary Marion Da Costa said 63 people attended the meeting, including league operations manager Shane Anwyl and president Betty Ford.
"It was a successful meeting and gave the people present an opportunity to ask questions and make comments," she said.
"It was really positive and we are pleased to say the club is going forward."
Da Costa said conditions had been placed on the club's affiliation with the MCFNL this season and was in the process of meeting those.
The Eagles have been hit hard by player losses ahead of the 2017 season.
But Da Costa echoed the comments of new senior coach Darren Smith earlier this week in saying it was hoped to have sufficient numbers by round one.
The club has adopted an incentive scheme for players this season in-lieu of player payments.
The sliding scale scheme will see the Hawks' reward players each round from first to 10th best.
Dunolly Football Club was founded in 1873 and will celebrate 150 years in 2023.
Da Costa said the Eagles’ intention was to survive long after that milestone.
Coach Smith this week urged supporters and members of the Dunolly and surrounding communities to continue to rally around the club.
