More than 200 teams competing in age groups from under-12 to under-20 will take to the court for the tournament, which will finish on Saturday when finals are played.
Among Thursday’s day one results, Bendigo’s under-12A boys were on the wrong end of a thriller against Warrnambool in their first game, going down 28-27.
However, the under-12B boys got one-up on their arch-rivals Ballarat with a 30-25 victory to open their campaign.
Bendigo’s under-12B girls were also too strong for Ballarat, recording a 19-7 triumph.
Bendigo’s under-14A girls also started well with a 35-23 win over Wodonga, while the Braves Yellow team snuck past Sunbury Jets 30-29 in the under-14C girls.
