The pair were then arrested in nearby Stoddart Street park shortly after.
All of the escapees have now been arrested by police following yesterday’s escape.
The riot began at about 2.45pm on Wednesday and involved 30 detainees with 15 inmates escaping.
Six of the inmates who escaped were arrested about 3.15pm in Lockwood South following a pursuit and the remaining inmates in the facility were arrested by the Operations Response Unit and secured yesterday.
Later in the evening police arrested a further two of the escapees on foot in the vicinity of Malmsbury.
Four inmates were arrested in Ambon Street in Ashburton just after 8am this morning.
A 17-year-old Redan male was arrested at a Redan address about midday today.
UPDATE 7.45am Thursday: Seven young offenders remain on the run after a break-out from the Malmsbury youth detention centre on Wednesday afternoon.
A white Suzuki SUV that several escapees had been travelling in was involved in a collision with another vehicle and dumped in Mulgrave, in Melbourne, about 11.40pm.
The occupants fled and it is not known whether they are now in another vehicle or travelling on foot.
A number of escapees are also believed to be travelling in a blue Ford falcon sedan, with registration ZKV598.
A red hatchback that police initially believed was involved has since been ruled out.
Victoria Police said a large number of police, including specialist units from the Operations Response Unit, Public Order Response Team, Dog Squad, Fugitive Taskforce and Critical Incident Response Team, were working to resolve the incident.
UPDATE 7.30pm: Emergency services were called to the disturbance, which involved about 30 detainees, around 2.45pm.
Six of those who fled in a stolen vehicle were arrested shortly after.
A further two were arrested a short time ago near Malmsbury.
There remains seven inmates not accounted for.
It is believed they are travelling in three separate vehicles: a red hatchback (registration 1HZ5UN), a white Suzuki SUV (registration WILMAK) and a blue falcon sedan (ZVK598).
UPDATE 4.45pm: Police have apprehended six of the Malmsbury inmates who fled the youth justice centre this afternoon.
There are seven escapees still outstanding, according to a Victoria Police media release issued at 4.30pm.
It is believed they are travelling in two separate vehicles: a red hatchback and green Holden sedan.
The direction of travel of both vehicles is unknown at this stage.
Members of the community are asked to phone 000 if they see either of these vehicles and avoid them.
UPDATE 4pm: Several terrified staff have been locked inside the facility for their own protection, as police dressed in full riot gear and members of the Youth Justice Safety Emergency Response Team attempt to regain control.
One car is believed to be travelling towards Melbourne while another is heading to Bendigo.
The original stolen ute has been found abandoned.
A spokesman for the Department of Health and Human services said police were handling the Malmsbury incident.
"Our priority is to resolve this incident as soon as possible," the spokesman told AAP.
CFA firefighters are at Malmsbury but a spokeswoman said they were there on stand by.
Seven are still at large, presumed to be in the cars that were carjacked on the Calder Freeway.
Six escaped youths were recaptured and there are five still on the roof, according to reports.
UPDATE 3.45pm: There are reports of a car chase on the Calder freeway.
A police car was rammed during the escape, according to media reports.
There were 13 youths who initially escaped by stealing a car and ramming a fence at the detention centre.
The Malmsbury escapees reportedly smashed into a civilian car on the Calder Freeway.
Police described the young driver as being "out of control" at high speed, according to Seven News.
The escapees are in two cars at different points and there are separate pursuits under way at speeds of up to 150km/h, according to Seven reporter Paul Dowsley

EARLIER: Police have confirmed a number of inmates have stolen a vehicle escaped from the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre this afternoon.
The unrest began at about 2.45pm and police and firefighters are now responding.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers were at the scene.
"Police are at a correctional facility in Malmsbury following the escape of a number of inmates and the theft of a vehicle about 2.45pm today," the police spokeswoman said.
“Further updates will be provided once information comes to hand.”
Department officials also confirmed there is "an incident" at the centre, but did not have specific details.
The CFA was called in about 2.30pm and two fire trucks are now attending the scene.
A CFA spokeswoman said firefighters were assisting police with an incident but would not provide any further details.
Opposition spokeswoman for families and children Georgie Crozier said she understood a number of inmates had escaped from secure units.
The latest events come less than two weeks since police were forced to storm the centre after six inmates armed themselves in a secure unit. Four of those offenders have since been remanded into the adult prison system.
On Wednesday, Fairfax Media revealed that the Andrews government was warned in an explosive secret report months before the latest riots in Victoria's youth prisons that the system was spiralling out of control in "a continued and ongoing threat to the safety of staff and clients".
Fairfax Media can also reveal that the man who ran the Parkville and Malmsbury youth justice facilities, Ian Lanyon, has recently been moved from his post, leaving an acting director in his place.
Fairfax was unable to reach him for comment.
