The free family event will include a barbecue lunch, live music, a bouncy castle and face painting for kids.
Winners of the 2017 Mount Alexander Australia Day Award will be announced on the day.
“We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated individuals and community groups among us who volunteer their time to help others,” Mount Alexander Shire Council acting director of sustainable communities Gaynor Atkin said.
“This special event is a great way for us to collectively say thank you and recognise their efforts and contribution to the community.”
The Australia Day celebration will also the town’s newest Australian citizens.
With temperatures tipped to push into the 30s, the shire’s swimming pools in Harcourt, Castlemaine, Maldon and Newstead will be free on Australia Day.
