BENDIGO: Police have urged people to remove valuables from unattended vehicles and to keep them locked following an opportunistic theft.
Sergeant Peter Law, of Bendigo police, said offenders had gained entry to a vehicle parked at Napier Street sometime between midnight and 11am on January 17 using an unlocked door.
Items were subsequently stolen.
Gone were the times in which people could leave their cars unlocked if they were parked outside their properties, Sergeant Law said.
Society had changed and people needed to be vigilant about securing their property.
“We need to lock things,” Sergeant Law said.
EPSOM: Police are investigating an attempted burglary at a house near Epsom Station.
Authorities were alerted after unknown offenders tried to force entry to a Howard Street address.
The incident occurred sometime between January 15 and 16.
FLORA HILL: Electrical equipment and medication have been stolen from a Flora Hill address.
Police believe the burglary at the Neale Street address occurred sometime between January 15 and 17.
The stolen items were valued at a total of $40.
