THE pressure will be on Eaglehawk’s batsmen to lift as it prepares to chase Kangaroo Flat’s 8-220 at Canterbury Park in the Bendigo District Cricket Association on Saturday.
The Hawks (2-2-1) have been knocked over for scores of just 116, 143 and 85 in their past three games.
The batting woes of the Hawks can be summed up in the fact that after four games, the only player who has made more than 100 runs is veteran Andrew Smith (133), while with 11, they have had the most ducks so far.
Given the troubles of the Hawks with the willow and the Roos boasting two of the top front-line bowlers in the competition in captain Brent Hamblin and Adam Burns – who both have 10 wickets – the game looks well set up for Kangaroo Flat (3-1-1).
In other round six games, Golden Square (3-1-1) has the job well and truly ahead of it in pursuit of Strathdale-Maristians’ 7-292 at All Seasons Oval.
The aggressive pair of captain Tim Wood and Scott Trollope – coming off 89 in Twenty20 earlier this week – shape as two keys to Square being able to take it up to the Suns (1-3-1).
Undefeated ladder-leader Sandhurst (4-0-1) will chase Huntly-North Epsom’s (1-3-1) 222 at Bendigo Door Centre Weeroona Oval.
White Hills (1-3-1) has a big score of 9-285 to defend against Bendigo (2-2-1) at Axis Employment Oval.
And Bendigo United (3-1-1) has 9-234 on the board against the winless Strathfieldsaye (0-4-1) at Harry Trott Oval.
Play starts at 1pm.
