In his first season with the Blues, Woodman will play against a Dandenong side that includes Australian Test bowler James Pattinson.
Woodman earned his selection in the first XI after a consistent start to the season with the second XI team.
He’s taken 18 wickets in 10 games, including best figures of 6-40.
Woodman is the second Bendigo District Cricket Association product to debut in the Carlton first XI in as many weeks after ex-White Hills star Brayden Stepien played his first games for the Blues in last weekend’s two Twenty20 matches.
Batting at number six, Stepien came in late in the innings in the first game and made three, while in game two he smashed a valuable 25 not out off 14 balls.
Ironically, Woodman replaces former Strathfieldsaye opening bowler Xavier Crone in the Carlton first XI.
Crone is in Adelaide representing Victoria Country at the national under-19 championships.
Crone was the hero for Vic Country in Thursday’s win over Northern Territory.
The big man took 2-16 off six overs with the ball and then added 30 runs for the last wicket with Cameron Brown to lift Vic Country to a thrilling one-wicket win.
