VicRoads regional director Mal Kersting said community information sessions to be held this month would allow residents to see first-hand how their ideas had helped shape the design.
“Community feedback has also helped shape cycling options, with new 2.3 metre wide bike lanes, with prominent lane separation markings, on both sides of Napier Street, forming part of the final design, rather than shared bus and cycling lanes,” he said.
Mr Kersting said there would also be changes to parking along Napier Street to accommodate the growing needs of the Bendigo community.
“We want to keep some level of street parking, which has been a long-time feature of Napier Street – however some changes are necessary to improve traffic flow and safety,” he said.
The information sessions will be held at Holy Rosary Hall between 1pm and 5pm on December 6; at the Epsom Soccer Club between 4pm and 8pm on December 8; and at Weeroona College between 4pm and 7pm on December 12.
