Widely regarded as one of the best key defenders in the BFNL in the past decade, Young has put in a clearance to play in the Victorian Amateur Football Association in Melbourne.
The five-time premiership player has lived in Melbourne for a number of years and has travelled back to Bendigo to play for the Bulldogs.
Young joins star midfielders Simon Rosa (retired) and Adam Baird (Wodonga Raiders), Victoria Country representative Chris Ryan (Tatura) and Che Walls (Tatura) on the list of high-profile players to leave Square.
Veteran midfielder/tagger Adrian McErvale has also signaled his intention to leave the club to play with Pyramid Hill in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League.
McErvale looks set to be joined at Pyramid Hill by one of his premiership team-mates at Golden Square – speedy wingman Matt Klein-Breteler.
Klein-Breteler has spent the past few seasons with Huntly in the Heathcote District Football League.
Veteran players are also on the move from Kangaroo Flat.
Popular Roo Jarryd Wiegard has put in a clearance to join LVFNL club Mitiamo, while Lance Oswald looks set to leave the Flat after just one year with the club after requesting a clearance to the Murray Football League.
In other LVFNL news, Marong has lodged a clearance for Leitchville-Gunbower ruckman Cameron Ross.
On a negative note for the Panthers, key position player Richard Tibbett wants out of the club and is on his way to North Central Football League club Boort, which will be coached by former Marong coach Corey Gregg.
