After losing to the Flames by five points in round three, the Spirit suffered a 93-86 overtime loss in Sydney on Friday night.
The Spirit went into the game on top of the ladder with a 7-3 record, while the Flames were fourth with a 4-3 win-loss ratio.
The Spirit were left to lament poor shooting in the shock loss. The Flames outscored the Spirit 9-2 in overtime.
The Flames had five players score in double figures and as a team shot the ball at 50 per cent.
The Spirit again relied heavily on Kelsey Griffin (27 points and 10 rebounds) and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (22 points and 12 rebounds) and as a team shot the ball at just 39 per cent. Kerryn Harrington (1-10) and Ask Karaitiana (0-8) were the main offenders for the Spirit.
The Spirit are at home to Adelaide on Sunday afternoon.
