Woods, 13, cleared 1.66m at high jump to become the record-holder for the under-14 age group.

The teenager surpassed the mark of 1.65m set by Eaglehawk’s Jack Palfreyman in October, 2005 at the Latrobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Flora Hill.

Woods was a boundary umpire in this year’s Kerang District Football League seniors grand final.

A clubmate of Woods, Emma Berg from Swan Hill marked her third record in as many weeks.

Berg’s best of 39.70m in the discus broke the under-16s record of 37.96 held by Belinda Palmer for more than 21 years.

Another of South Bendigo’s stars, Taryn Furletti starred in the 3000m run.

Furletti’s time of 10:24.94 is now an AB record for the under-16 and under-15 age groups.

The under-16 record of 10:39.7 was set by Melissa Geri in 1993 at the Epsom track.

An exciting finale to the track action in the third round of the Athletics Victoria shield competition was the 4 x 200m relay.

Eaglehawk’s Brian Cornell, Kevin Shanahan, Peter Savage and Terry Hicks teamed up to break the long-held 60-plus record.

The “Borough Boys” time of 2:10.21 was the best achieved in the 60-plus age group since Ian Carmichael, Neil Macdonald, Paul Martin and Ken Bruechert clocked 2:17.46 racing for Bendigo Harriers in 2006.

Leading points-scorers at Saturday’s meet were Eaglehawk’s Barb Bryant, 3km walk; Bendigo Harriers’ Christopher Browne, discus; Emma Berg, discus; Geoff Shaw from Bendigo Harriers at triple jump; Teleah Hayes, 3km run; Eaglehawk’s Olivia Graham, hammer throw; Furletti, 3km run; South Bendigo’s Teleah Hayes, 800m; and Eaglehawk clubmates Terry Hicks and Craig Graham at 200m and hammer respectively.
