Carlton opening bowler Ryan Sidebottom will line up for the Bulldogs as their marquee player in their away clash with Kangaroo Flat at Champions IGA Oval.
Sidebottom, 27, played one Sheffield Shield game for Victoria in March 2013 and played against the England Lions in February that year.
Sidebottom took 42 wickets for Carlton in 2014-15 before injury hampered his 2015-16 season.
“It’s going to be great for our players to get the opportunity to play alongside a player of Ryan’s quality,’’ Golden Square captain Tim Wood said.
“Everyone will get a buzz out of it. I suspect even the Kangaroo Flat players will get a buzz out of it.
“To have a marquee player of Ryan’s ability playing in Bendigo is great for the competition.”
Kangaroo Flat won’t have a marquee player in its side on Tuesday nigtht.
The Bulldogs aren’t the only club to raid the Melbourne Premier Cricket ranks for marquee players.
Casey-South Melbourne first XI skipper Lachie Sperling will line-up for Sandhurst in the Dragons clash with White Hills at Glen Loddon Homes Oval.
Lachie Sperling, a batting all-rounder, is the brother of Sandhurst first XI player Sam Sperling.
The Demons will utilise the talents of home-grown product Brayden Stepien as their marquee player.
New Bendigo skipper Shane Koop has raided his former club the Monash Tigers for the Goers game against Strathdale at Axis Employment Oval.
Koop has recruited Tigers’ all-rounder Sam Kerber. A left-hand batsman and left-arm orthodox spinner, Kerber bats at number four for the Tigers.
Kerber will go head-to-head with his Monash Tigers team-mate Andrew Chalkley, who is the Suns marquee player again this summer.
Chalkey scored a brilliant century for the Suns in last year’s T20 grand final.
Bendigo will be without key all-rounder Nathan Fitzpatrick after he pulled up sore from Saturday’s win over Huntly-North Epsom.
Fitzpatrick is expected to play in this weekend’s round three clash with Golden Square.
Strathfieldsaye and Huntly-North Epsom won’t have marquee players for their battle at Flight Centre Park.
The T20 games start at 5.15pm, except for the Roos-Square game which begins at 6pm. Orange balls will be used in all games.
It’s going to be great for our players to get the opportunity to play alongside a player of Ryan’s quality.
