CAPTAIN: Ben Devanny.
LAST SEASON: 8th – 5-7-1.
ARRIVALS: Cory Devanny, Beauden Rinaldi, Michael Curtis.
DEPARTURES: Pat Felmingham, Andrew Stove.
SUMMARY: After being inches away from a premiership in 2014-15, Strathfieldsaye slipped out of the four last season after the departure of some key players.
This summer shapes as a better one for the Jets after they added some much-needed depth to their batting and bowling.
All-rounder Cory Devanny and talented batsman Beauden Rinaldi return to the Jets line-up, while Michael Curtis is a left-arm medium-pacer from sub-district cricket ranks in Melbourne.
“We lost a few players last year and we lacked some depth in the first XI,’’ skipper Ben Devanny said.
“The additions this year help us with our depth and we’re hopeful that Andrew Stove and Nick Scullie might be able to play a few games for us.
“Our batting let us down last year and we need to start posting some bigger scores to get us back to the finals.”
The Jets appear to be stronger on paper, but they also have a tough draw with two games against three of last year’s semi-finalists.
If Ben Devanny, veteran Stephen Brown and Rinaldi can have big seasons with the bat then the Jets have the capabilities to sneak into the top four.
