The five-a-side competition is for girls of all abilities from six to 16 and runs for six weeks from October 22.
BASL President Adam Woods has been working with members over the last two years to identify opportunities to increase girls’ participation in soccer.
“An all-girl competition is important for the long-term growth of women’s soccer in Bendigo,” he said.
“This year there are almost 500 female players registered in the BASL – a 20 per cent increase from 2015 and we want to continue to build on that success.
“In the BASL the majority of girls play in mixed gender teams.
"Research shows that girls enjoy playing with their friends and other girls.
"The BASL recognised the importance of providing this opportunity for girls to play together in a team."
Games will be played on Saturday mornings at the Spring Gully Recreation Reserve.
BASL skills development program coach and competition organiser Holly Hays is passionate about developing women’s soccer in Bendigo.
“Bendigo has many talented girls playing soccer," she said.
"Our girls’ representative under-12 and 16 sides both won their levels at the Victorian girls 7-a-side competition in Melbourne last year, and this season Golden City’s all girl under-12 team won their grand final.
“An all-girl competition is critical to developing the game.”
