Jarryd Eriksson might not like fashion but a passion for drawing has earned him national recognition for a ski outfit he designed.

The year seven Eaglehawk student wandered into a classroom after school one day earlier this year and, while waiting for his friends to finish up on a project, began idly sketching some ideas.
“I just drew what was coming into my mind,” he said.
The design caught the eye of a teacher and the next thing Jarryd knew it had been entered into the national Wool4School competition.
The competition gives young people real-life design experience. In 2016 more than 12,000 school students registered to take part.
“I don’t even like fashion, to be honest. I just like art,” he said.
Even so, Jarryd said he was incredibly excited to learn he was one of ten runners-up, with a unisex merino wool skiing outfit for the nation’s athletes.
The design was turned into a real outfit.
Jarryd is not sure where his talent for drawing comes from.
“No-one in my family draws. I do have an uncle who draws, but we don’t see him very often,” he said.
So I don’t know where it comes from, I just try to draw every day,”
