Icehouse, James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite, Shannon Noll, Pseudo Echo and Dragon will play at the Bendigo Racecourse on April 22.
Dragon guitarist and singer Mark Williams said the band was thrilled to be on the docket with so many great groups.
“I mean, Icehouse, what do you say about them? They’re absolutely brilliant,” he said.
“James Reyne and Daryl Braithwaite are awesome as are Nollsy and Pseudo Echo. It’s big line up and a long day.”
Dragon moved from New Zealand to Australia in the 1970s to mark their mark on music history.
Williams joined the new incarnation of Dragon in 2006.
“Hopefully, there is more contemporary sense which seems to work but there’s no denying the band already had a great songbook. ,” he said.
“The first thing (founder member) Todd Hunter wanted to do was strip the production ideas right back. When we did that the songs became evident.
“So we started acoustically again. Took out the keyboards and the lush sounds before adding them back in where they were needed.”
Williams said the band is constantly touring and playing gigs.
“The band never relaxes, we are always on road. Even in their heyday, they never stopped and that’s really important,” he said.
“Since we started up again (11 years ago) we have maybe three or four weeks off in a year.
“Every weekend we are out doing something, right up to starting the Red Hot Summer Tour.”
Like other bands on the line-up, Dragon will feature many of their iconic songs like April Sun in Cuba and Rain.
“There’s no denying those songs. We won't shove stuff in there that nobody knows but if its feels good in the format, we might sneak something in there. But it has to be good to get in there,” Williams said.
“A lot of the songs (from us and other bands) are still with the new generation.
“The ‘70s and ‘80s produced some whoppers that never die and thankfully a few Dragon songs are in there.”
The Red Hot Summer Tour was last in Bendigo in March.
At that concert Jimmy Barnes, Noiseworks, The Badloves, Mark Seymour and the Undertow and The Angels played.
