Prime took up martial arts 37 years ago under instructor Wayne Swanton.
The loss of Prime’s left arm at the age of 15 has proven no barrier during a career that began with competition at local and regional tournaments, before progressing to state and national level and a five-year scholarship with the Victorian Institute of Sport.
Throughout his journey Prime has also been accepted into the International Budo University in Japan by Professor Ryuji Bunazawa.
Prime’s teaching has included classes for intellectually-challenged adults, while he has also established a women’s judo club for vulnerable and marginalised groups.
Prime’s Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame plaque reads he has been recognised for “superior leadership, teaching performance and dedication to the Martial Arts.”
The ceremony was held in Adelaide.
