Emergency services were called to the inbound lane of Bridge Street after a utility vehicle and hatchback collided about noon.
The 50-year-old male driver of the ute performed an unsafe u-turn, failing to give way to an oncoming Hyundai Getz, Senior Constable Todd Deason said.
Ambulance officers attended the scene but neither motorist was injured in the incident.
SC Deason said the ute’s driver would be issued with an infringement notice and no further investigation was required.
“People need to drive to the conditions,” he said.
“If it’s raining, the roads are slippery and your stopping time increases,” he said.
He also reminded motorists to insure their own vehicles, with both cars’ policies only pertaining to third party damage.
