The eight-metre tall Mount Macedon survey cairn had been deteriorating, with cracks in the mortar and stones coming loose.
“The works have preserved this historically significant structure for visitors to enjoy for many years to come,” Parks Victoria senior ranger Helen Barker said.
It is one of three mortared stone survey cairns that were used to calculate distances in the state.
Mount Macedon was an important early landmark for people heading to the goldfields.
