A CHANCE pairing has paid big dividends for Bendigo tenpin bowlers Cara Fahy and David Farquharson.
The duo teamed up for only the second time in their careers to win last weekend's Brian Pell Memorial mixed pairs tournament at the Bendigo Bowling Centre.
Fahy and Farquharson qualified for the finals in second place and had to overcome top-ranked Damien Worden and Tracey Monti.
They advanced to the final with an earlier finals win against Chris Beams and Ash Currie, who themselves won their opening finals match against Mick and Zoe Wright.
Farquharson, who has bowled competitively for 15 years and is averaging 205, said he and Fahy last teamed up about 11 years ago.
That too resulted in a tournament win as the pair pocketed $1000 each.
The pair agreed there would be a shorter wait to combine forces next time around.
The win was Fahy's first Brian Pell Memorial triumph and the third for Farquharson, who has represented Australia three times in Asian Series Championships.
He previously won the trophy in 2006 with his wife Tracey and in 2003 with Chris Clarke.
The Pell Memorial was inaugurated in 1989 and played every year until 2006, before being revived in 2014.
