Cyclist Tom, 13, will be competing for the first time at state level when he lines up in the Under-15 boys 10km time trial at the Victorian Junior Road Championships being held at Glenrowan.
Tom – in year seven at Marist College – is in his first season of road racing and is hoping to use this weekend’s Victorian titles as a stepping stone to the Junior Road National Championships being held in Bendigo from September 2 to 4.
Meanwhile, while Tom will be competing in state titles, dad Adam will be racing in one of the premier competitions on the motorcycle calendar – round five of the Hartwell Club Championships at Broadford.
“We’ll stay in Broadford Friday night after setting up, head to Glenrowan early Saturday morning and once Tom has raced we’ll head back to Broadford,” Adam said this week.
“So I will miss out on practice and qualifying while I’m watching Tom and then get back to Broadford and start from the rear of the grid.
“I have my dad and a mate who are also racing at the weekend at Broadford, so hopefully, they have everything sorted for me and I’ll be back in time to make it for race one.”
Both Adam and Tom have been supported in their racing endeavours by Bendigo's Skin Ski and Surf and Tint NV.
