The 43-33 win was the Maroons’ eighth in succession and put them two games and percentage clear of the Superoos at the top of the ladder.
It was Mitiamo’s second loss in its past three games.
Aside from Newbridge, Bridgewater were the other big winners on Saturday.
The Mean Machine leapfrogged Calivil United into third place after beating the Demons 49-35.
With three rounds remaining, Bridgewater has a one-game advantage over the Demons in the battle for the double chance. However, Calivil has played one less game than the Mean Machine.
Marong scored its fourth win of the season when it held off a gallant Bears Lagoon-Serpentine 51-43.
In the final game of the round, Pyramid Hill proved too strong for Inglewood, 46-32.
