On Saturday, the Bendigo Exhibition Centre will be devoted to collections of a different kind.
Bendigo Coin and Collectables Club president Peter Forster expects people from throughout the state to attend the Bendigo Collectables Fair, where countless treasures from times past will be on display and for sale.
“From small beginnings when we started out at St Andrews Uniting Church Hall about 12 years ago, we have become one of the major collector fairs in the state,” he said.
About 80 trading tables have been booked for the day, with dealers available to give free valuations.
“So bring in your treasures,” Mr Forster said.
Collector and swap cards will be among the items on display, alongside coins and currency, militaria, stamps, jewellery, badges, post cards, medallions, tokens, glass, china, pottery, model toys, albums, books, tins, dolls and ephemera.
This year’s event marks a departure from tradition, with a new venue and a new date.
The fair is typically held in June, and at the Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre.
The exhibition centre is at the Prince of Wales Showground in Bendigo and runs from 9am until 4pm.
The price of admission is $3 and there will be free collector packs for children.
