Bendigo watercolour artist Neil Gude has turned his skills to cartooning in tribute to the departing Forever Marilyn statue in Rosalind Park.
“I'm a member of the Bendigo Arts society and the society decided to have a Marilyn theme as one of their monthly activities to fit with the Marilyn theme that Bendigo’s sort of embracing at the moment and so I did a different carton to fit with that theme and it sort of got me into a bit of Marilyn cartooning which I wouldn’t normally do,” he explained.
“I read a letter that someone had written about Marilyn, saying how touched they were about her story and how sad they would be that she’s going and it made me feel like doing a second cartoon to go with the departure.”
Forever Marilyn will be dismantled on Monday.
