The fact there was no wanton vandalism or graffiti over the Marilyn sculpture during its erection at the gateway to View Street.
Congratulations.

Selective "animal lovers"
Many people who claim to be animal lovers, choose to eat their flesh, milk and eggs.
Jenny Moxham is right in her letter in the Bendigo Advertiser, July 15, “Say no to cruelty to all beings”. In fact scientific evidence proves that we are healthier when we leave them off our plates.
So if we are choose to eat meat and other animal products — we are abusing and killing billions of farmed animals yearly for our taste bud pleasure.
The famous quote by George Bernard Shaw, states, "The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity."

Governments should be increasing aged care budget
I agree with Bill Collier’s comments (Bendigo Advertiser, Letters to the editor, July 14) regarding a need for extra respite beds, as the manager of an aged care facility in Bendigo.
We cater for respite, after hospital care and short term accommodation and have done since 1989.
In my time as manager I have noticed a steady increase in people wanting short term respite.
Maybe governments should increase the aged care budget rather than decreasing it.

Senate must accept the responsibility
I respond to the two articles where Richard Glover (Bendigo Advertiser, July 9) challenges who among us has the guts to say life in Australia is good.
I among many others my age 70+ have never had it so good. From nothing to now I never thought I could over the bumps of life have never had it so good.
Sixty per cent of us who have lived the real life of an Australian would agree. You then have above 20 per cent full of greed who take all and give little.
Twenty per cent expect it to be given to them. Our previous governments to get votes allowed this. Which is now putting Australia in a downhill increasing debt.
The other article by Mikayla Novak, senior researcher with the Institute of Public Affairs (Bendigo Advertiser, July 9), advises we give the whole lot away now under the banner of globalism. Our boundaries our identity to save ourselves.
The British have just tried that experiment which has ended in a disaster. The only thing we need saving from is ourselves. Our greedy, our bludgers.
We the voters of Australia have made our point quite clear by electing a down to earth Senate who recognise we must have secure borders we must have identity we must get control of a budget.
Yet we have highly paid paper theory academics preaching disaster theories to us which have failed. We do have exciting times ahead but it won’t be Turnbull or the mad hatter doing it. Our newly elected Senate must accept the responsibility we have given them. To work for Australia. Senators please do not let Australia down.
