Victory in Wednesday’s game at Trevor Barker Oval in Sandringham will put CCB one win away from a trip to the MCG for the Herald-Sun Shield grand final.
“The boys are very excited about the challenge,’’ CCB coach Lee Coghlan said.
“It’s been a great effort to make the state final and if we play our best footy I’m confident we can win it.”
CCB won its first four preliminary round matches before losing to Essendon Keilor College by five goals in the final round.
“There was nothing riding on that final round game because both teams had already qualified for the state final,’’ Coghlan said.
“We rested about 10 players and they rested some players as well. I don’t think you can read too much into that result.
“I’m really confident we can turn that around on Wednesday.”
Coghlan said CCB would be close to full strength for the clash with Essendon Keilor College.
“The only player we’re missing is Cooper Jones,’’ Coghlan said.
“He’d be handy to have after he was in the Vic Country squad, but he’s hurt his knee.”
The winner advances to a Herald-Sun Shield semi-final clash with Geelong’s St Joseph’s College at Trevor Barker Oval next Wednesday.
The Herald-Sun Shield final is an AFL curtain-raiser at the MCG a week-and-a-half later.
