Original story:
A home invasion, stabbing, car theft and police pursuit has resulted in two Bendigo men being taken to hospital, one car being crashed into a creek and another with its front window smashed in with a large rock.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said the incident began in a California Gully home on Tuesday night.
“It’s believed a man was asleep in his Imperial Court home when he heard noises downstairs about 10.30pm,” the spokesperson said.
“The man entered his garage to find an unknown offender inside.”
An altercation allegedly between the two saw the 30-year-old resident of the house suffer stab wounds to the neck and hands.
A black Jeep with signage for a window tinting business was reported stolen from the home.
The victim was conveyed to Bendigo hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A vehicle belonging to a neighbouring property had its windshield smashed in by a large rock.
About 9.30am Wednesday police received a tip off from a member of the public who spotted a black Jeep in Myola, more than 40 kilometres from the scene of the crime.
Victoria Police confirmed officers then engaged in a “short pursuit”.
Within the hour police arrested a man in relation to an alleged home invasion and stabbing.
The vehicle had been crashed after taking a dirt road off Barnadown-Myola Road, ploughing through several wire fences and driving across several hundred metres of paddock before plunging into a creek.
Panelling from the front of a car and other debris were scattered across the paddock which was also riddled in tyre tracks.
A gate to the paddock had been knocked over and the fencing ripped out.
A 26-year-old Bendigo man was treated by an ambulance on the scene before being taken to hospital to receive medical attention.
A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the vehicle but was unable to access the creek due to boggy conditions.
Police searched for a tractor to retrieve the vehicle.
Forensics arrived at the Imperial Court on Wednesday morning and police set up a perimeter around the home which restricted access from both directions.
A crime scene was also established at the Barnadown property were the stolen vehicle crashed.
