Wilson, 24, will make his senior world championship debut in New Zealand in November this year.
Now based at Clayton Bowls Club, Wilson earned his selection in the Australian pairs and fours teams on the back of consistent performances at national level in the past three years and his triumph in the world junior championship on the Gold Coast earlier this year.
Wilson is one of three rookies on the Jackaroos’ squad. He’ll play alongside Queenslander Brett Wilkie in the pairs, while the fours will consist of Barrie Lester, Wilkie, Wilson and Mark Casey.
“This decision has been extremely difficult and I sincerely commend the whole squad for their diligence and commitment through a very robust and torturous selection campaign,” national coach Steve Glasson said.
The World Bowls Championships is staged every four years and is scheduled to take place across four Christchurch clubs in New Zealand from November 29 to December 11, with eight gold medals up for grabs.
