Golden Square topped the 200 mark for the second game in succession as it belted Gisborne by 151 points.
After kicking 39.20 (254) against Maryborough the previous game, Square kicked an efficient 31.14 (200) to Gisborne’s 7.7 (49).
In the absence of centre half-forward Ryan Herring, Square coach Nick Carter moved Chris Ryan from defence to attack and it paid dividends.
Ryan kicked six goals in the first half and seven for the game in a best on ground performance.
“It was a good execution of what we wanted to achieve today,’’ Carter said.
“The effort was right up for most of the game and we were pretty good with our conversion.
“It was a consistent performance overall and a good step in the right direction.”
Midfielder Adam Baird continued his superb season. The premiership star ran riot through the middle of the ground and capped his fine game with three goals.
Hamish Morcom and Dylan Johnstone kicked four goals each for Square, while Travis Baird enjoyed his return to centre half-back where he controlled the tempo of the game.
The young Gisborne side just didn’t have the class or depth to go with its arch-rival.
Their cause wasn’t helped by the report of veteran midfielder Ollie Messaoudi.
Skipper Jarrad Lynch and Nick Doolan tried hard for Gisborne against the odds.
Golden Square captain Jack Geary was taken to hospital after being knocked out in a sling tackle in the first quarter.
“They initially thought Jack had some neck problems, but he was cleared of that,’’ Carter said.
“It was just concussion and he’s back at home. It didn’t look good at the time, but he’s got through it okay.”
