BENDIGO residents can now have their say on two draft designs released for planned upgrades to Napier Street.
The $30 million state government project plans to ease congestion and boost safety for residents. It will include:
- The widening of a 2.7km stretch of Napier Street between Weeroona Avenue and Hall Street to two traffic lanes in each direction;
- New pedestrian operated signals north of Grace Street;
- Upgraded bus facilities;
- On‐road bicycle lanes; and
- Extra parking on both sides of the road.
Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan encouraged residents to share their ideas about the designs.
“We want to hear from pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, public transport users or from our local schools on how you use this vital road every day,” she said.
The designs were on display at a community consultation session at Weeroona College on Thursday night. Two more sessions will be held on:
- Monday, June 20, at Holy Rosary Hall, White Hills, 1pm to 5pm; and
- Thursday, June 23, at Epsom Soccer Club, 4pm to 8pm.
The draft design options, aerial plans, artists impressions and traffic modelling will be on display at the sessions, and residents will also have the chance to talk to engineering experts.
Residents will be able to comment on the draft designs from late June to August online. For more information about the project, visit vicroads.vic.gov.au
