A bit of morning sun drew people to Hargreaves Mall with almost two dozen vintage and classic cars on show.
Event co-ordinator Neil Athorn said the days wasn’t about showing off cars or raising money as much as it was about raising awareness.
“I saw a letter to the editor in the paper a couple of months ago saying that beyondblue was struggling for money,” he said.
“So I said to the blokes in the engine club, ‘do you want to do something?’ and we decided get cars together today.
“We don't expect to make much but it's a good way of promoting to people that perhaps if you’re feelign stressed or whatever, that beyondblue is still going and still there.”
Mr Athorn said the VVCC Bendigo showcases their cars at other event during the year such as Anzac Day, Australia Day and the Easter Fair.
“We do a lot of different things and we thought we could give this a try and are happy to give it a shot,” he said.
“The middle of town is a terrific place to do a display. It gives people something else to look at while they shop and reinvents the mall a bit and makes people say there might be something to see.”
