Bendigo City lost 3-1 to power club Melbourne City at La Trobe University in Bundoora.
Melbourne City has the most potent forward set-up in the competition, but the young Bendigo defence played superbly to restrict them to three goals.
Bendigo City FC scored in injury time in the second half through Carl O’Keefe. It was his second goal of the season.
The under-20 clash was more one-sided, with Melbourne City winning 5-0.
The Bendigo City FC juniors had a tough day on Sunday against Hume City at Broadmeadows.
The in-form under-15s and the under-13s were the best performed teams.
In an enthralling game, the ninth-placed under-15s held the second-placed Hume City to a 3-3 draw.
Tommy Kay scored a brace for Bendigo, while Frank Gibbs added his fifth goal of the season.
The under-13s were second-last on the ladder ahead of their clash with third-placed Hume City and they held the home side to a 0-0 draw.
The under-18s lost 4-1, with Nathan Bianchin the goal scorer for Bendigo.
The under-16s suffered a 5-0 defeat, the under-14s lost 13-1, while the under-12s were outclassed 10-0.
The Bendigo City juniors are on home turf next Sunday against Sunshine George Cross.
