The 18-year-old is creating the looks for more than 20 cast members that will be featured in the Bendigo Theatre Company production of The Addams Family.
The family-orientated show is on at Ulumbarra from Thursday, June 30, until Sunday, July 3.
Boulton completed a cinemagraphic makeup course in Melbourne last year.
“I have been doing this for about a year and just love bringing characters to life,” she said.
“The Addams Family is my major breakthrough at the moment. It is one of the most creative outlets I know of.”
Boulton said she applied for the role of make-up artist when she heard the production was calling for crew members.
“One of the people involved told me about it and I decided to give it a go,” she said.
“It has been amazing, a real learning curve,” she said.
“So far I have mainly created the looks for Morticia and Wednesday but there is a lot to do.
“The Addams Family are such a quirky family but they accept all sorts and are open to anything.”
One of the most time consuming characters to create will be Uncle Fester.
Conor Cunningham has taken on the role of Fester and will be spending up to two hours in the make up chair for each performance.
“Applying a bald cap usually takes about an hour and the make-up job takes another hour after that,” she said.
“I’m just going to throw myself in there and make sure it’s fun. I want to help everyone get the look they want and make it a great show.”
As well as preparing for The Addams Family, Boulton will be showcasing her original work with a make-up exhibition in Melbourne.
Her body art runway will feature five models that will be transformed into Boulton’s original creations.
“I’m creating characters based on mythological characters as well as some original horror movie characters,” she said.
“It takes weeks to get the whole look together. Using sketches and practising as much as possible is the best way to perfect the look.
“We will start at about 2pm, each body takes two hours to paint and the show will ends at 11.30pm.”
