Bellarine won 52-30, paving the way for the victory with a dominant first term when it raced to a 17-6 advantage at quarter-time.
“I think nerves played a big part and we were certainly rattled early on,” Heathcote District coach Tamara Gilchrist said.
“I was hoping in the first five minutes we’d settle down, but it took until the end of the first quarter for that to happen.”
Heathcote District’s best quarter of the game was the second term when it narrowly outscored Bellarine 10-9.
However, there was no respite for Heathcote District in the second half, with Bellarine adding 26 goals to 14 to finish commanding winners.
“Bellarine moved the ball really fast and caught us unaware a few times and were able to score from those opportunities,” Gilchrist said.
“We just couldn't gel as we wanted to today.”
Mid-court player Lauren Bowles (wing attack and centre) was named the best player for Heathcote District.
“She kept a really level head and was really slick through the court. At different times everyone played really well, but we missed a few opportunities,” Gilchrist said.
