It provides a social history element to the City of Greater Bendigo’s strong cultural foundation, with a dynamic and varied annual program of exhibitions and events for all ages.
In its sixth year, Post Office Gallery is currently displaying its 15th exhibition, with many more scheduled.
The current exhibition is titled Eclectic Treasures: Bendigo’s private collections.
Centred on the theme of ‘collecting’, the exhibition highlights 16 local collectors, exploring a selection of their items and discusses the motivations for seeking and acquiring objects, precious or peculiar that might otherwise never have survived.
We rely greatly on the support of volunteers to assist us in keeping the gallery space interactive and welcoming to visitors.
Our fantastic team of volunteers contribute so much to the visitor experience, and in turn, they find it enhances their own lives in many ways.
Andrew Cook is one of our generous and dedicated volunteers. Having been on board since 2012, Andrew has learnt a great deal with each new exhibition.
After learning of the Post Office Gallery during the exhibition, Celebrating 150 years: rail in Bendigo and the Bendigo Brass Band, Andrew contacted Bendigo Art Gallery to become involved.
Since then, Andrew has become an integral member of the team, volunteering at least once a week, if not more; and always a phone call away if further help is required.
For me, the most rewarding part of volunteering at the gallery is talking to the people that come in.

The Post Office Gallery is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. Entry to the gallery is by donation.
