Eaglehawk’s Leigh Thurwood and Bendigo’s Tim Arnold were found guilty of:
- Acting in a threatening and intimidating manner by making unnecessary avoidable contact with an opponent;
- Acting in an unsportsmanlike manner;
- Acting in a manner likely to bring the sport of bowls into disrepute; and
- Acting in a manner likely to bring Bowls Victoria into disrepute.
Arnold was suspended from bowls competition until October 31, 2016, with a further 12-month suspended sentence (good behavior bond) to run from that date. The suspended sentence would only be invoked in the event of a breach of disciplinary rules during that time.
Thurwood was suspended from bowls competition until November 30, 2016, with a further 12-month suspended sentence (good behaviour bond) to run from that date. The suspended sentence would only be invoked in the event of a breach of disciplinary rules during that time.
Neither player can play bowls at any level of competition between now and the completion of their suspension.
