Part-owned by a large group of Bendigo racing enthusiasts, Mahuta led all the way to win the Autumn Stakes at Caulfield.
"He's a very tough horse," Weir said. "He's the sort of horse owners dream of."
The Bendigo-based ownership of the Roll The Dice Syndicate certainly are living the dream.
Last spring Mahuta advanced from a Kyneton maiden win to victory in the Sandown Guineas.
He went to Queensland last month and collected another win in the Magic Millions Cup. In eight career starts Mahuta has earned connections $1,687,460.
"It was his first run in five weeks but was fit enough for the run," Weir said. "He walked a bit in the last 100 yards but five weeks between runs, that will give him a good clean out."
Mahuta is equal favourite for the Australian Guineas at $5 with stablemate Palentino.
Mahuta was one of three winners for the day for Bendigo jockey Brad Rawiller.
Rawiller also piloted Burning Front and Tuscan Sling to victory for the Weir stable.
Rawiller is enjoying a hot run of form.
Prior to Sunday’s meeting at Colac, Rawiller had ridden six winners in his previous 18 rides.
All six were at city level, including Nautical in the Group Three Bow Mistress Tophy in Hobart, a double at Sandown last Wednesday and Saturday’s treble at Caulfield.
