The 104-85 victory was Bendigo’s 10th in a row as it continues to build strongly for a tilt at back-to-back flags with the finals just a fortnight away.
Bendigo had three winning rinks, with skippers Andrew Brown (+8), Tim Arnold (+7) and Ian Ross (+9) all prevailing.
The only points Golden Square took was Garri Conforti securing a 25-20 victory over Barry Anset.
Having started the day 20 points inside the top four, Golden Square’s buffer after the loss has been cut back to eight with one round to play.
• Kangaroo Flat kept its finals hopes alive with a six-shot win over Castlemaine.
The Flat won 94-88 to keep the pressure on the fourth-placed Golden Square.
Geoff Boyd (+6) and Luke Hoskin (+7) were winning skippers for the Flat, while Castlemaine was best served by the rinks of Geoff Walsh (+4) and Rick Parr (+3).
• Bendigo East crushed South Bendigo by 45 shots in the top-versus-bottom contest.
East won 122-77, with the rinks of Marc Smith (+25), Brad Holland (+14) and Paul Moller (+8) all getting the job done.
Jason Turley’s rink avoided a whitewash for South Bendigo with its 27-25 victory over East’s Brad Marron.
• For the second week in a row, Inglewood has proven no pushover at home against a premiership contender.
Inglewood fell nine short of Eaglehawk, which won 94-85.
Both teams won two rinks apiece – Simon Carter (+7) and Ken Rusbridge (+6) getting up for the Hawks; Robbie Day (+2) and Daryl Rowley (+2) winning for Inglewood.
