The local man who found the car and called the incident into police said the area was a favourite stomping ground for hoons.
Golden Square resident and small business owner John Sharkey said he was concerned that the car had a child seat in the back. He said he was also “a bit disturbed” by the underwear left by the driver’s door.
“It does make you wonder,” Mr Sharkey said.
Mr Sharkey said it was the second crash in the area that he was aware of in the last few months, after a give way sign was wiped out over Christmas during the night.
“They really give it hell around here,” he said.
“You see the tyre marks everywhere.
“It happens at night, during the day, on the weekend, you see ‘em snaking around the corner, doing circle work and kicking up rocks.”
The accident occurred on the corner McLachlan Street and Alder Street.
Bendigo Police said they were looking to speak to the driver of the vehicle but had not yet made contact with him.
