The financial institution has again been named Australia’s best blood donor in its class at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service awards.
The bank’s staff made a whopping 1754 donations to the Red Cross in 2015 – some 500 donations more than its nearest rival.
Even more impressive was that the bank managed to beat last year’s contribution by 45 per cent – or 540 donations.
Bendigo Bank executive Robert Musgrove said he was proud to represent hundreds of his colleagues who had rolled up their sleeves, braved the prick of a needle and saved lives.
“Our team know first-hand how important these donations can be,” Mr Musgrove said.
“Just recently we had a senior staff member requiring a blood transfusion after collapsing at home. This lifeline has meant that he’s now been able to return to work.”
