The Bendigo icon was among 14 Victorian businesses to be recognised at the industry’s peak national awards ceremony in Melbourne on Friday.
The tramways scored a bronze award in the cultural tourism section.
Victoria dominated the awards, as 10 businesses won gold, one claimed silver and three took home bronze.
The tramways qualified for the awards as a state tourism awards winner.
Bendigo Tramways has been in operation since June 1890.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren said Victoria had once again proven itself as a world class tourist destination with its awards performance.
“Our claim as a tourism and major events leader is no accident. It’s thanks to the hard work of our operators all over the state,” he said.
“These results are a testament to the quality of experience we have on offer in Victoria. I congratulate all our winners for their fine achievement.”
