A developer has put plans to council to construct a $2.8 million apartment block in the CBD.
If approved, the three-storey building will be constructed on an 800 square-metre, vacant block on 17-19 McLaren Street.
The land abuts the Melbourne-Swan Hill train line and neighbours the Bendigo Community Telco building, about 70 metres from the intersection with Williamson Street.
Grayshoe PTY plans to build 12 apartments in the building, with all parking to be accommodated in a basement-level carpark.
If and when approved it is approved, the developer estimates a construction time of between 12 to 24 months.
The City of Greater Bendigo has a “compact city” plan, which focuses development on areas inside the existing urban growth boundary.
The council is expecting significant new building and redevelopment in the CBD in the next 20 years as it pushes towards its goal of having 3000 people living in central Bendigo.
