The solo show is one of just six stops on her 2016 tour.
While the tour may be short, Australia holds a special place for Power who has visited here many times.
“It’s my favourite country in the world, which sounds like bulls**t when I say it but it's true,” she said.
“There’s not whole bunch of formality that makes people uncomfortable, you have a real ease as a people.”
When she arrives in Australia, Power will bring a whole batch of new material as well as some old favourites that he fans will appreciate.
“The kind of music I play draws a certain type of person to see me,” she said.
“I may have played a blues fest, hippie-type fest, a rock fest but the people that like my music and keep coming tend to be a certain kind of conscious crowd.
“I feel like a lot of artists and creative people come to my shows.”
Power was last here two years ago and since then has had a son, which makes it difficult for her to tour or head back to the studio.
“I leave the house and my heart breaks because I’m leaving my baby,” she said.
“Normally I would just do what I needed to do and kind of run in the fast lane, so it will be interesting how to see how I handle the recording process now.
“I’m excited for sure but I know it won’t be like last album that spent four years on.”
As well as writing for a new album, Power did some voice over work for the Janis Joplin documentary Janis.
Power said she didn’t hesitate at the opportunity to tell one of her icon’s stories.
“When I went to do it and I was reading her letters, her words and what she's expressing in the letters – they were so familiar to me,” she said.
“I didn’t realise how hard it would bit, that it would leave an emotional impact on me. It was really f**king sad, especially when I read the last letter, I just started bawling. What she said just summed up the tragedy of her.”
