Vic Country scored an impressive six-wicket win over the Cricket Australia XI in Monday’s quarter-finals.
Former Strathfieldsaye bowler Xavier Crone took 2-39 off nine overs, while Sandhurst spinner Liam Bowe bowled tightly in his 0-38 off nine overs as Vic Country restricted CA XI to 7-211.
In reply, Vic Country lost ex-White Hills opening batsman Brayden Stepien for six but Blake Thomson’s second century for the carnival steered them home. Former Huntly-North Epsom batsman Ryan Hartley made five not out. Tuesday is a rest day, with the semi-final clash against the unbeaten ACT/NSW Country to be played on Wednesday.
