Education Minister James Merlino on Tuesday announced $125 million in funding to create 10 high-tech learning centres at TAFEs and universities across the state.
La Trobe University and Bendigo Kangan Institute are both members of the working party for the Bendigo tech school, along with the City of Greater Bendigo, secondary schools and Bendigo West MP Maree Edwards.
“Tech schools will use leading-edge technology, discovery and innovation to deliver our students new skills, insights and ways of working which will be crucial for the jobs of the future,” Ms Edwards said.
“I am thrilled to be working with local schools, industry partners, TAFE and universities to deliver a tech school for Bendigo.”
The tech schools program is aimed at inspiring students to pursue careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields, the government said.
