Midfielder Fevaleaki – who won the 2006 Cheatley Medal with Elmore – is among three recruits confirmed by the Saints for 2016.
“David trained with us last Monday night and is looking really fit, so he’s going to be a good addition for us,” Heathcote coach Paul Kennedy said.
“He will be one of our starting midfielders, and that’s one of the areas where we want to improve. We were a bit too small, so we’ve looked to add a bit more size to the midfield.”
The well-travelled Fevaleaki – who has previous VFL experience with the Bendigo Bombers – this year joined Hay mid-season in the Golden Rivers league, helping the Lions to their first finals appearance since 2003.
The Saints have also added Kyle Gillingham from Wandella as another big-bodied onballer.
Jackson Bailey from Marcellin College who can play midfield and forward will also be joining the Saints.
“And there’s probably another three or four who we have got commitments from, but still need to get pen to paper,” Kennedy said.
The Saints this year finished on the bottom of the HDFL ladder for the first time since 2000 with their 2-14 record.
A positive for the Saints is Kennedy says he is unaware of any departures.
“Everyone is staying on board and if everything goes to plan, we’ll, hopefully, have eight to nine new faces in the side,” Kennedy said.
