3.30pm: North Central is the state’s best 17-and-under netball region after defetaing Western in the grand final.
After a tight first half, North Central surged clear in the second half on the back of some brilliant defence and the accurate shooting of goal attack Abbey Ryan.
The Carol Cathcart-coached team didn’t lose a game on day two.
North Central’s open side was defeated in the semi-finals, while the under-15s missed out on the semi-finals by just three per cent.
1.45pm: North Central under-17s will play Two Bays in the semi-finals after they finished third on the ladder.
The other semi-final is between North East and Western.
1.25pm: North Central under-15s have narrowly missed out on qualifying for the semi-finals.
North Central won its final round match against East Gippsland, but other results didn’t go their way and they finished fifth on the ladder.
They were equal on points with second, third and fourth, but miss the semi-finals on percentage.
1pm: North Central’s open team will play Jika in the semi-finals. North Central defeated Sunraysia 19-11 in their final preliminary match to finish third on the ladder.
The other semi-final will be played between top team Chisholm and fourth-placed Two Bays.
The under-15s must defeat East Gippsland in their final pool match to have any chance of making the semi-finals. They also need second-placed Henderson to defeat third-placed Barwon.
Noon: North Central’s open team is through to the semi-finals after defeating Western 14-10.
The teams to make the semi-finals are Two Bays, Jika, Chisholm and North Central, but their positions in the top four could change in the final round of preliminary matches.
The semi-finals will be played at 1.20pm, with the final scheduled for 1.58pm.
11.42am: North Central’s under-15s also looks set to play in the semi-finals after winning their first four games today.
North Central has defeated Goulburn 17-7, Central highlands 17-9, Latrobe Valley 13-9 and Elmer 11-10.
The under-15 semi-finals will be played at 1.20pm.
11.40am: North Central’s under-17s have made a stunning start to day two, winning all three of their games in fine style.
They defeated Goulburn 17-4, Central highlands 18-4 and Latrobe Valley 14-11 to seal a semi-finals berth with one round remaining.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 1.40pm.
11.30am: Mixed start to the day for the North Central open team.
The hosts suffered a shock 14-10 loss to Elmer in their first game of the day, but bounced back to defeat Barwon 16-8 in their second game.
Jika has two wins from as many games today to remain on top of the table.
North Central needs to defeat Western and Sunraysia in its final two games to be assured of a semi-final berth.

5pm: North Central’s 17-and-under team has finished the day with a win, surviving a scare to defeat Western 12-11. The girls are in fourth position with a 7-2-1 record, equal on points with third-placed Henderson. North East is the pacesetter with nine wins and a draw from its 10 games, with Two Bays in second place on percentage with a similar record. North Centrals will return to the court at 9.04am tomorrow against Goulburn, which has won just two of its 10 games.
4.55pm: Open coach Janelle Hobbs says her team is well placed at the end of day one of the Netball Victoria State Titles.
North Central is in second place on the ladder, behind Jika, but has a game in hand with Jika yet to have the bye.
The team suffered one loss on the day against defending champions Two Bays by jut two goals..
“We had a good day,” Hobbs said.
“We’ve given ourselves a real chance if we can keep up the pressure from today,” she said.
“Tomorrow we’ll have to win four games and hopefully we can play finals.”
The top four teams after nine rounds will advance to the semi-finals, to be played at 1.22pm.
4.40pm: North Central’s open team is in second position after the end of day one. The girls have posted a 3-1 record. Jika leads the competition with three wins, a loss and a draw. Barwon (3-1) is third, ahead of Two Bays (3-1). Sunraysia is without a win after five games.
4.36pm: North Central’s 15-and-under team has rebounded with a strong win against Western 15-9, to push their record to 6-4 for the day – good enough for fourth position at the moment. The team has completed its commitments for the day, with a round 11 bye. They will resume tomorrow with an 8.47am game against Goulburn on court 9.
4.20pm: Netball Victoria general manager – netball operations Michelle Gerdtz says it’s great to have the state titles back in Bendigo.
The last time they were held in Bendigo was five years ago. This year marks the 30th year of the state titles.
“We wanted to make a big spectacle of it, so we’ve come back to Bendigo to do it,” she said.
“The council has been very supportive and provided us with a lot to bring it back.
“There’s some pretty well known players running around out there, some Victorian Netball League players and certainly some good up-and-comers.
“It’s the pointy end of the year for them (players), but they love getting involved.”
Fifty-four teams are participating at the Golden City courts, including 17 in both 15-and-under and 17-and-under and nine in the open titles.
4.12pm: North Central 17-and-under have continued on its winning way, accounting for Barwon 16-5. The heat is taking its toll at the Golden City courts with some big margins in that round. North East defeated Elmer 12-2 and Sunraysia defeated Central Highlands 13-6.
4.10pm: North Central 15-and-under has suffered a loss in its round nine game against Barwon 7-17. Jika recorded a big win against Latrobe Valley 17-8; Elmer defeated North east 9-3.
3.45pm: North Central has advanced to 3-1 in the open titles, defeating Gippsland 17-6. The hosts are now in second spot on the ladder with 12 points, behind Jika (3-1-1) on 14 points. North Central has a game in hand. It was a solid win, with Zoe Davies in excellent touch.
3.41pm: North Central is in fourth position after rounds in the 15-and-under competition. The team has a 5-3 record. Jika is the competition pacesetter with six wins and a draw from is seven matches.
3.39pm: North Central’s 17-and-under team has posted a 5-2 record, with one draw, after eight rounds. The team posted a big win over Wimmera Mallee, 17-7, in its last game. That followed a 12-12 draw against Sunraysia.
3.30pm: The North Central open team has a 2-1 record after three games. Their latest win came against Chisholm 13-10. A round five game against Gippsland is in progress. Games are played over two eight-minute halves.
12.35pm: In other 17-and-under scores of note: Henderson d Central Highlands 14-10; Sunraysia d Wimmera Mallee 12-9; Jika d Barwon 8-5.
12.31pm: Two Bays has continued its trend of narrow wins against North Central, winning their 17-and-under match in a thriller 15-13. Two bays defeated North Central in all three grades by a combined five points.
12.27pm: Other 15-and-under round four scores: Barwon and Jika drew 16-16; North East d Western 14-10; Goulburn d Chisholm 13-6; Henderson d Central Highlands 13-6; Dandenong Valley 7-5; Elmer d East Gippsland 14-10; Wimmera Mallee d Sunraysia 22-13. Elmer heads the ladder with a perfect 3-0 record, ahead of Henderson 3-1, Dandenong Valley 3-1 and Wimmera Mallee 3-1. North Central is 2-2 in ninth place.
12.25pm: North Central has lost its second game in the 15-and-under section, narrowly going down to Two Bays. Final score was 10-9 to Two Bays.
12.16pm: North Central open will hit the court again at 1.45pm for a round four encounter against Chisholm on court 8. They will be rested after a bye in round three.
12.15pm: Full open round two scores: Two Bays d North Central 11; Chisholm drew with Jika 14; Gippsland d Sunraysia 15-9; Western d Elmer 21-10; Barwon bye.
12.11pm: North Central has fallen just short in its bid to topple reigning open premiers Two Bays in their round two clash at the Golden City Courts. Two Bays won a thrilling encounter 11-9. North Central can ill-afford to drop too many more encounters if they are to qualify for the semi-finals tomorrow.

11.51am: North Central is second on the 17-and-under ladder after three rounds, following another win against Chisholm 16-8.
11.34am: Third round 15-and-under scores: Jika d Wimmera Mallee 15-8; Barwon d North East 6; Western d Two Bays 14-12; Chisholm d North Central 13-8; Henderson d Goulburn 14-10; Dandenong Valley d Central Highlands 12-8; East Gippsland d Latrobe Valley 15-4; Elmer d Gippsland 12-8.
11.31am: North Central has suffered its first defeat in 15-and-under competition, losing to Chisholm 8-13. Both sides have won two games and one game after three rounds.
11.27am: Jika looms as a team to beat in 17-and-under, after they defeated Sunraysia 17-3 in their second round encounter. Sunraysia netball is genuinely strong.

10.57am: North Central’s’ 15-and-under girls are now 2-0, after a win against the aforementioned Henderson 13-10.
10.55am: For those asking, the Henderson Region teams competing today are made up of the following associations. Waverley City, Waverley Night, Waverley District, Caulfield, Kingston, Richmond, Prahran and Sandringham.

10.47am: Other open first round scores: Chisholm d Sunraysia 16-12; Western d Gippsland 13-9; Barwon d Elmer 15-10. Two Bays had the bye. They are the defending champions so plenty of interest in their first-up clash against North Central, which starts at 11.29am.
10.42am: North Central’s open team has opened its account with a 16-11 win over Jika. Jika has been perennially been strong in these titles, which augers well for the North Central team, being coached by Janelle Hobbs.
10.39am: North East shape as a team to watch in 17-and-under after defeating Sunraysia 22-6. In other games: Two Bays d Wimmera Mallee 20-2; Barwon d Chisholm 20-9; Henderson and Western drew 10-apiece; Goulburn and East Gippsland also drew 8-apiece; Gippsland d Central Highlands 10-4; Latrobe Valley d Elmer 19-5.
10.35am: North Central is on the scoreboard also in the 17-and-under section. North Central won its opening match against Dandenong Valley 17-10. These of course are shortened matches with a busy schedule of games and a quick turnover between games.
10.31am: The North Central open team has hit the court for its first game against Jika. The team is being captained by Strathfieldsaye’s Brianna Dalrymple-Monro, who was runner-up i this year’s BFNL Betty Thompson Medal count.
