Kendyl Hopley, founder of beStella blog, will be hosting a “Courage or Confidence” workshop with leadership expert Fabian Dattner next month.
“She's really going to focus on women finding their voice, to step up and find their place, and saying it's not just all about men in leadership,” Ms Hopley said.
“She’s very passionate about women and...her focus is now it's women's turn.”
The event is devoted to supporting other women – guests on the night will be asked to bring along a piece of corporate clothing to be donated to young sole mothers.
“It’s about giving them a lift up in terms of education and in the workplace. It's helping them dress for success,” Ms Hopley said.
Ticket holders are also invited to buy a package – a ticket for themselves and one for a young woman to inspire them in leadership.
These steps are aimed at inspiring women to support women, rather than seeing each other only as competitors in a workplace.
She hopes the event will challenge outdated gender stereotypes of leadership – a project her blog is also committed to.
“There is a perception there for working mothers that perhaps they're not as committed, but I think they are,” Ms Hopley said.
“I think they go above and beyond.”
beStella was created, Ms Hopley said, at a time where she was at a crossroads herself and seeking direction.
Noticing a gap in resources for regional and rural women to share their career and life pathways, she created the blog to showcase those stories to connect with other women.
“l wanted to help other women in my position. It’s also keeping in mind it's not that easy, and just keeping it real.”
“Courage or Confidence: A conversation with Fabian Dattner” will take place on Monday October 19 at Ulumbarra Theatre from 6pm.
Tickets range from $20 to $70 and more details can be found at www.beStella.com.au.
